A new flow trail has been opened between Kreuzboden and Trift

After the opening of the Skills Park last summer, another highlight will be added on August 27 with the new flow trail on Kreuzboden.

After Saas-Fee/Saastal gained another attraction last summer with the new Bike Skills Park Kreuzboden, product development at Bergbahnen Hohsaas is continuing at a rapid pace.

The new bike offer was very well received by bike guests and the Hohsaas – Kreuzboden – Trift – Saas-Grund axis is perfect for this. From the end of August, the Hohsaas mountain railways will be presenting an expanded range of bikes with the new Flowtrail between Kreuzboden and Trift, which is rounded off with the single trail over the Furwald to Saas-Grund. So, you can enjoy a varied bike route from Hohsaas 3,200m above sea level. M. to Saas-Grund, overcoming a whopping 1,600 meters in altitude.

Planning, costs and construction
The construction work on the three-kilometre flow trail began in autumn 2021. The specialists from BikePlan AG designed and planned the new route, and the trail was built by Trailworks experts: the design of the trail is similar to that of a flow trail, but the local structures (terrain edges – stones etc.) were integrated so expressively in order to offer the mountain biker an identical experience close to nature. This trail leads almost seamlessly into the single trail from the Triftalp to Saas-Grund.
With the new flow trail and the single trail to Saas-Grund, mountain bikers have access to a route over 1,583 metres in altitude and 15.9 kilometres that has been made accessible by the gondola lift.
The costs for the entire bike project in the Hohsaas – Kreuzboden – Saas-Grund area total CHF 521,500. The municipality of Saas-Grund together with the Hohsaas mountain railways will pay CHF 271,500 of this. Saastal Tourismus AG has pledged CHF 100,000 for the project. An additional CHF 150,000 will flow into the construction project via the new regional policy (NRP) of the canton of Valais.

Find personal challenge
The expansion of the range of bikes fits perfectly into the strategy launched in 2020 by the Saas-Fee/Saastal holiday region. With the expansion of the bike product, the destination is sure that everyone will find their personal challenge in the Saas Valley, whether newcomers or experts.

Opening of the new route
On August 27, the new route Kreuzboden – Trift will be officially opened with a small aperitif for the guests. Matching the opening, the Bike Days will take place a month later from September 23-25 at Kreuzboden.
