Successful opening of Furkagasse

New shopping and dining venue in Andermatt Reuss

The new Furkagasse retail and gastronomy meeting point in Andermatt Reuss is officially open. The opening event attracted a large audience of locals and guests to Andermatt. Live music with Bastian Baker, culinary delicacies and entertainment on the Piazza Gottardo accompanied the official opening ceremony.

Samih Sawiris (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG), Naguib Sawiris (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orascom Development), Raphael Krucker (CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG) and Peter Baumann (Mayor of Andermatt) officially opened the new retail and gastronomy zone on Saturday afternoon. There are seven new retail stores and three new bars/restaurants with a total of 10 brands on Furkagasse. Live music and entertainment attracted a large audience.

“The opening of Furkagasse is a dream come true,” said a delighted Samih Sawiris, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Andermatt Swiss Alps (ASA). “Furkagasse is a major milestone in the development of Andermatt Reuss and towards becoming a prime Alpine destination,” added CEO Raphael Krucker. “With Andreas Caminada’s IGNIV, we can also complement the high-quality gourmet offering.” Mayor Peter Baumann thanked Andermatt for further increasing its attractiveness.

With Furkagasse, Andermatt has a new meeting place for locals and guests alike. The retail and gastronomy zone is a meeting place where national and international companies, exclusive boutiques, first-class restaurants and friendly cafés come together. In total, Andermatt Reuss now has ten retail spaces and five bars/restaurants with a total of 15 brands on 5,000m2. The new brands include Dagsmejan, Kjus, Muntagnard, Qwstion, Andermatt Swiss Watches, Audi, Tasoni, Frauenschuh, Feinedinge and Grüezi Cafe. The IGNIV by Andreas Caminada restaurant and the Nooba restaurant enrich the culinary offering.

These new openings complement the already established restaurants such as Spun in the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Biselli and La Bonne Cave as well as the shops Imholz Sport, Mammut, Bikewelt Gisler, Andermatters, Victorinox and Drogerie Andermatt. In the winter months, a bar on Piazza Gottardo invites you to linger with hot drinks and snacks. Furkagasse expands Andermatt’s gastronomic and commercial offerings and increases the attractiveness of the new part of the village.
