Zermatt previews winter with ski tests, flexible passes and mountain journeys

Zermatt–Matterhorn is looking ahead to winter with a programme of ski testing, flexible ski breaks and mountain journeys, alongside activities for families visiting the Swiss resort.

In its latest visitor update, the destination says the first snowflakes have reached the village while skiing is already available on the glacier. Its seasonal offer brings together time on the slopes with experiences around the Matterhorn and Gornergrat.

Try the latest skis

Skiers can begin the season by testing the latest ski models on Zermatt’s slopes. The destination is promoting a ski-test package available until 29 November, offering visitors an opportunity to compare equipment on snow.

The Winter Opening Weeks offer is aimed at guests staying for four nights or more and features the Flex Ski Pass, providing flexibility for the first skiing days of the season. Full package details and booking conditions are available through the destination’s own channels.

Mountain journeys beyond the slopes

For visitors looking to combine winter scenery with a different mountain experience, the NostalChic Class journey on the Gornergrat brings together nostalgic railway travel, personal service and dining.

The newsletter also highlights the crossing from Zermatt to Cervinia, with views of the Matterhorn along the way. A luggage-transfer service is available for travellers making the journey between the Swiss and Italian sides of the Alps.

Family activities and festive plans

Families are another focus of the winter programme, with snow activities, first turns on skis and experiences featuring Wolli. The destination is promoting the Wolli Card as a way for eligible young visitors to access family benefits.

Zermatt is also preparing for the festive season, with its Christmas tree lighting planned for the first Sunday of Advent.

Further information on winter packages, mountain journeys and family activities is available from Zermatt–Matterhorn.
