“Salomon has been a huge part of my personal journey as an athlete, and ironically it has been a persistent competitor in my professional life,” Mellin said. “I’ve been so inspired by this brand’s ability to constantly reinvent the industry through category disruptions while creating new sports and communities. Quite frankly, it’s a been a dream of mine since I was a young ski racer to work in Salomon. I’m honoured.”
Mellin has a storied career in the snow, sport and outdoor industries as an executive and consultant including engagements with Oakley, Callaway, The North Face, Head, Scott, AspenSnowmass, Black Diamond, Audi and Lamborghini, among many others.

“Scott, with his brand vision, is a powerful addition to our executive team,” said Franco Fogliato, President and CEO, Salomon. “His conceptual expertise will fuel our marketing, product, retail and overall consumer experiences. Salomon is entering an exciting period in its long and storied history, with opportunities to share our brand and products with new communities of outdoor lovers, and I’m confident that Scott is the person to lead our marketing organization in the next phase of this journey.”

Mellin will lead the marketing of a Salomon brand that is recognized as the global leader in trail running and winter sports. Since its inception in 1947, the company has pioneered a litany of innovative products in the outdoor industry. Today, the brand creates high-performance footwear, apparel, gear and winter sports equipment that is used by a loyal community of followers from the high peaks of the Alps to urban environments around the world. In 2022, Salomon winter sports products helped the brand’s team of athletes win 28 medals at the Olympic Games. At the same time, the brand’s SportStyle footwear collection is worn on fashion runways around the world.

Mellin will be relocating from the US to Annecy, France, in the coming months. A passionate outdoor sportsman, he most recently held the role of Global GM of Mountain Sports at The North Face, where he led the efforts to revive brand authenticity while developing and launching industry changing and award-winning fabric technologies. He also pioneered the relaunch of the brand’s footwear category, and led the company’s sustainability programming, advancing its total recycled product content from seven per cent to more than 70 per cent in four years.
