New wooden marble run at Leisee

A new attraction has been opened at the Leisee – a wooden marble run. As an addition to the existing water feature, it promises fun and games for everyone! In addition, the popular Leisee has become even more attractive.

To match the popular water features, Forst Randa has produced a marble run made from local wood. The new attraction has been installed in the eastern section, next to the water features, and can be extended every year.

The accompanying wooden balls bear the Zermatt Bergbahnen logo and were lovingly handcrafted by Atelier Manus. Atelier Manus is a private foundation that promotes the professional and social integration of people with disabilities.

The wooden ball track is ready to play with. The matching balls can be purchased at the Sunnegga ticket office for CHF 5.00.

Parallel to the installation of the wooden ball track, large parts of the existing infrastructure will be renovated in the summer. New wooden tables and benches have been placed, inviting visitors to linger and enjoy the Leisee. The water wheel and bridge at the water feature will also be completely replaced.

The lake of the Leisee (2,232 m) is Zermatt’s beach and a popular outing for the whole family. With children’s playground, barbecue areas, picnic spots, pavilion for picnic, play raft – and a glorious view of the Matterhorn.

For children, this is a magical place to swim and play; for parents, a wonderful spot to relax. The views of the Matterhorn are gorgeous, framed by a pristine alpine landscape. As the lake is not deep, the water temperature is suitable for a dip, despite the altitude. The lakeshores are home to a wealth of alpine flora – and in July, to tadpoles and small frogs. The little stream that flows into the lake is also perfect for children to play in.

  • Accessible in 10 minutes on foot or 3 minutes by shuttle funicular from Sunnegga summit station
