Netski, the newest brand in the family that includes the world’s largest ski rental chain, SKISET, has announced a new partnership with a rising star of British skiing, Luca Carrick-Smith.
The partnership deal includes support for the young ski racer that will help cover some costs as he goes into his first season targeting the Europa Cup races across Europe.
Luca (18 years of age) will be sharing stories and images from the slopes as he travels around to various competitions in Europe, helping to highlight the Netski brand and stores in various locations and speaking to his own audience, which is the target demographic for the Netski brand.
Carrick-Smith has grown up in the French Tarentaise region in the ski resort of Tignes and is the eldest of three brothers from British parents, Phil Smith and Emma Carrick-Anderson. From a young age the brothers have been focused on becoming professional ski racers and last year, Luca was welcomed into the British Team. Phil Smith, one of the UK’s most respected ski instructors and founder of ski course company Snoworks and Emma Carrick-Anderson, four times Winter Olympic skier and Britain’s most successful female slalom skier are now full-time coaches to Luca and his brothers, Freddy and Zak.
Choosing to compete for Great Britain, Luca’s goals for this season include the Junior Alpine World Skiing Championships taking place in the Portes du Soleil ski area in France (January 29 to February 3) and competing on the Europa Cup circuit. Looking ahead, he would like to establish himself as a World Cup Slalom racer and compete at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina-Milan, Italy.
Luca said: “I’m so happy that Netski has offered this support for the 2023-24 winter season, every bit helps. We already know some of the shops and it is great to be involved in such a young brand. I’m totally focused on training and ski racing but I have also built up my own social media and have a pretty decent following, so I know I can help Netski reach potential customers that way. British ski racers do need support, especially when we are starting to come up the ranks at this level. I want to be the best British skier and win races at every level, so this kind of support on that journey is really valuable”.
Alexia Jubert, Strategy and Customer Experience Director for Netski, said: “We are delighted that Luca has agreed to be a Netski ambassador. We’re so excited about this partnership, especially as Luca is as promising as we are for our new brand. He also perfectly embodies our customers, who are connected and want speed and simplicity in everything they do, especially when it comes to renting ski equipment! We wish him every success in his ski races”.
