For the 15th time, the Swiss-Ski Nordic Weekend will take place in Andermatt and Realp from 23 to 25 August. Andermatt will be the destination of the Chasing Cancellara cycling event for the sixth time. The finish line will now be on Piazza Gottardo.
The traditional meeting of the Nordic family of Swiss-Ski in the canton of Uri is the largest off-snow event of the cross-country skiing and biathlon scene in Switzerland. Athletes from both sports compete against each other in competitions over three consecutive days, roller ski races in skating and classic, and a mountain run from Göschenen to Andermatt. The ski industry will also present its latest products in Andermatt. The Swiss-Ski Summer Road Show also offers children and young people the opportunity to come into contact with Nordic sports in a fun way in Andermatt.
Joint finish in Andermatt Reuss
In recent years, Andermatt has established itself as a venue for major events in the racing bike scene, such as the Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet or the Tour de Suisse. On Saturday, August 24, the sixth edition of the amateur race Chasing Cancellara will take place, with the finish in Andermatt. On the 220-kilometer route from Zurich to Andermatt, cycling enthusiasts and semi-professionals will compete against the two-time Olympic champion Fabian Cancellara. The finish is on the Piazza Gottardo in Andermatt Reuss.
For the first time, the mountain runners will also be using the common finish area. Spectators can therefore look forward to a great spectacle. The planned arrival at the finish – for both parties – is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, August 24th.
Children and young people also have the opportunity to get involved in sports at the Swiss-Ski Summer Road Show, meet some Swiss-Ski stars and collect autographs. A varied and multi-sport program is offered to the public – young and old – in Andermatt between 1:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
