Savills Report describes Andermatt as a prime destination
Savills Ski Report 2023/24 places Andermatt among the top 20 ski resorts worldwide in terms of the exclusive and unique holiday properties the Swiss resort has to offer.
Savills has been analysing the real estate market in ski destinations worldwide for 18 years based on numerous factors that influence the destination’s growth and property sales. First and foremost, there must be a housing market. In addition, foreign investors can also purchase property and the necessary infrastructure for active leisure activities (winter and summer) is available.
Exclusive real estate offer
As a real estate agent in the high-price sector, Savills has compared 62 destinations worldwide. Amidst destinations such as Gstaad and Zermatt, Andermatt is now in 4th place (previous year 5) among destinations in Switzerland with a prime offer of the highest quality (previous year 5), and among the top 10 worldwide, which also includes Vail Resorts (new majority owner of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG).
Key indicators of snow sports resilience are reliability, snowfall, length of season, temperature and altitude of the destination. Andermatt is in the top 20 worldwide and in sixth place compared to Swiss winter destinations.
A similar conclusion was reached in the recently published report by Knight Frank, which also placed Andermatt in the top 15 in a resilience ranking. The experts at Knight Frank understand resilience to include various factors such as snow reliability, the number of north-facing slopes, the altitude, the amount of snow, etc. Andermatt is also one of the top 5 destinations in the Alps in terms of the length of the ski season with 22 weeks.
