South American Cup season set to start on 28 July in Valle Nevado

The 2025 South American Cup season is set to get underway at the end of the month, with a jam-packed week of slopestyle and big air action at Chile’s Valle Nevado resort leading off what promises to be a highlight-filled southern hemisphere winter season for snowboarders and freeskiers.

Dubbed the Andes Cup, the SAC season-opener in Valle Nevado will take place from 28 July to 02 August, with back-to-back slopestyle competitions taking place from 29-30 July, followed by back-to-back big air events from 01-02 August. Those competition dates apply for both the snowboarders and freeskiers.

Along with valuable FIS points and a chance at earning a 2024/25 World Cup quota spot for the top athletes of the season, the Andes Cup also will give a nations award to the nation with the best performance.

South America is currently enjoying it’s snowiest winter in 30 years, with multiple storm fronts blanketing resorts in Chile and Argentina over the past several weeks. With plenty of white gold to work with, the Valle Nevado snowpark is already open and firing, and we’re expecting big things at SAC events this season.

“We are excited to receive athletes of South America and the world in one of the best snow parks of South America in Valle Nevado,” says Nico Carvallo, chief of the Andes Cup, “The Andes Cup will be a platform for South American and athletes from around the world to prepare for the 2024/2025 season and to share in the unique Cordillera de los Andes.”

Following the Andes Cup in Valle Nevado, park & pipe action at the 2025 South American Cup continues in Cerro Catedral-Bariloche (ARG) from 17-18 August, and then returns to Bariloche from 21-22 September for the SAC park & pipe season finale.

Along with Park & Pipe, the 2025 SAC will also showcase two visits to Corralco (CHI) for snowboard cross action, with back-to-back races raking place from 27-28 August (hosted by the Brazilian Snow Sports Federation), and again from 29-30 September.

Also on the 2025 SAC calendar is ski cross action alongside the SBX events at Corralco in September.
