Pila continues its transformation
La Stella di Pila set to open in December is set to offer guests a culinary experience framed by panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa
Opening on 28 November, Aosta Valley’s Pila is set for a 25/26 winter season marked with significant developments, following the opening of the new 10-seater ‘Couis 1’ gondola lift and a new slope connecting Couis 1 to Couis 2, back in December 2024. Work on the first section of the Pila-Couis lift and the panoramic mountain refuge, the “Stella di Pila,” are proceeding at full speed, on schedule, with the opening scheduled for December 2025.
These infrastructure developments form a cornerstone of Pila’s strategy and that of the surrounding region.
This cableway project will not only enhance the skiing experience but also establish itself as a world-class tourist attraction, opening the mountain to all who wish to admire one of the Alps’ most breathtaking panoramas, with sweeping views of every peak rising above 4,000 meters.

From the outset, the Pila-Couis project was based on criteria of environmental sustainability and inclusiveness. The new cable car was designed to reduce environmental impact, using highly energy-efficient systems and low-impact materials.
For the new panoramic mountain refuge “La Stella di Pila,” a strategic collaboration was initiated with Funivie Monte Bianco S.p.A., a company belonging to the same Finaosta Group that has successfully managed the Skyway Monte Bianco high-altitude catering business for years. This strategic collaboration between two leading players in the Italian Alpine landscape promises to bring to the summit of Pila the same attention to quality, innovation, and customer experience that has earned Skyway Monte Bianco international acclaim.
Renowned for its excellent snow conditions due to the natural basin that surrounds the ski area, Pila is all about high skiing and lively après-ski. The average elevation (up to 2,800 meters above sea level) and north-facing slopes also shield the snow from direct sunlight, providing guests with unique and unparalleled skiing experiences. And with Aosta town just a 20-minute gondola ride away, there’s plenty more to see and do, too. For more information on Aosta Valley’s Pila: https://aosta-valley.co.uk/destinations/pila/
