We need your help!
This initiative is being run with the support of KEEN’s long term partner, EOCA, the European Outdoor Conservation Association, who have helped us to choose three fantastic potential conservation projects to support through the scheme. We need fans and followers to vote for the charity of their choice from the following shortlist:

- Rewilding the Algarve; restoring habitats & reconnecting people, Portugal
European natural habitats, particularly those in southern Portugal have suffered an alarming reduction in species over the past 50 years. The Whole Wild World organisation, aims to restore and revive the ecosystem of a 210-hectare area of the Algarve for the long-term preservation and enhancement of native endangered Iberian fauna and flora such as the Iberian Lynx. Native Sorraia horses and herbivores will be introduced to help restore the native landscape and invasive species will be removed. https://www.rewildingalgarve.org/
- ForestSeeders – Restoring Sierra de Lujar. Southern Spain
This reforestation project, based in the Sierra Lujar of Órgiva, in southern Spain, will restore 50 hectares of Mediterranean forest by the direct sowing of 300,000 improved seeds. Improved by Semillistas’ own innovative laboratory, the seeds ensure that the plants are adapted to environmental conditions, thus needing less maintenance. The work will reduce the threats of soil erosion, forest fires and desertification and restore flourishing vegetation and native biodiversity. https://siembrabosques.com/
- The New Oases of Life, Czech Republic
The reforestation project “The New Oases of Life” will focus on the creation of new biodiversity hotspots in intensively used landscapes across the Czech Republic. The project team will turn spruce monoculture into natural, wild forest by planting thousands of native woody saplings in open spaces and create new ponds for wildlife in old landfill sites. The aim is to restore a wildlife-rich habitat, benefiting people, animals, and the environment.
The winner will be announced on 18th November 2021.
