The ever-ongoing quest to make Spektrum products ever more sustainable was the spark that ignited the Östra Bio RAW concept. Applying our plant-based materials in their raw form without any dye or paint gives an undeniably honest and fundamentally natural appearance, beautifully contrasted by the striking, high performing and plant-based BIOptic gold lens.
The design team set out to make the most environmentally conscious snow goggle ever made – and that had to be done without sacrificing any performance or functionality.
As an industry first we introduce a high performance, POLARIZED bio-based lens called BIOptic – an innovative 3-layer construction that is built in biodegradable cellulose. We also leave the dye and paint out of all main components to avoid any non-essential chemicals in the product as painting and dyeing is a significant part of a product’s Eco footprint.
The strap is made from hemp and our corn-based frame material out-performs conventional materials as it retains its softness and comfort at very low temperatures, essential for all winter sports. The bio-plastic detailing found in the pivoting outriggers, lens holder and strap adjustors are derived completely from castor oil and a polarized BIOptic spare lens for enhanced contrast in poor light conditions is included.
As is a soft case, made in collaboration with Woolpower and produced of recycled wool that will keep your goggles comfy in transit and keep them safe from sharp objects . All in all, the Östra Bio RAW goggle is made from an impressive 90% bio-based materials, setting a new standard for sustainable snow goggles.
