Vialattea, the leading Italian-French international ski region, and one of Europe’s largest ski resorts, has today opened for the 2023/24 winter season.
Opening in phases for the 2023/24 season, beginning with Sestriere on 07 December, Vialattea will be operating an expanded schedule, with over 120 skiable days across five months, until Sunday 07 April. Comprising 8 constituent resorts, including Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, and Montgenevre in France, Vialattea is the fourth largest contiguous ski area in Europe, with 400km spread across more than 250 runs.
Vialattea, or the ‘Milky Way’, offers a range of snow experiences, all accessible via a single ski pass and lift network. Whether guests are looking for the ski in/out convenience of Sestriere, the serenity of an alpine village in Claviere, or the famous après ski scene in the cobbled streets of Sauze d’Oulx, Vialattea has something for everyone – with some of the best skiing in Europe.
With 9 green, 95 blue, 154 red, and 37 black runs, Vialattea caters to all abilities, and offers a diverse mix of slopes for skiers to explore. The resort has a transport capacity of over 75,000 people per hour, with 70 ski lifts, including cable cars, gondolas, telemix, magic carpets, and chairlifts, providing a smooth experience for all visitors.
This winter welcomes a newly upgraded snowmaking system throughout Vialattea, with 117 new snow generators and 7,650 metres of renewed ski slopes, further cementing Vialattea’s snow reliability. Guests can enjoy further upgrades this season, with six new state-of-the-art ‘smart point’ ticket stations across the area, alongside the roll out of new-generation ski lift smart gates to streamline the skiing experience. Visitors are also now able to download the new Vialattea Ski App, offering skiers real-time services, including live weather and lift updates, navigation, and special offers. Additionally, Vialattea will also be host to a number of top-level sporting events throughout January, including two prestigious giant slalom women’s FIS European Cup races taking place in Sestriere.
Throughout the season, ski enthusiasts can take advantage of Vialattea’ s partnership with the Sestriere Tourism Consortium and the Fortur Consortium (Sauze d’Oulx & Claviere), to enjoy a series of discounted ‘Hotel + Vialattea Skipass’ packages. There are three promotional periods throughout the season; the first coinciding with the resort’s opening until 22 December, with subsequent periods running from 08 January to 02 February 2024, and from 02 April to 07 April 2024 respectively – perfect for those looking to enjoy a half term or Easter ski trip.
Guests can purchase a range of international ski passes depending on their requirements, from day passes available from £50 per person per day, to six day passes available for £255 per person – each providing access to all 8 resorts in both Italy and France. For online purchase, prices are discounted. The full range of ski passes are available to purchase online on the Vialattea website.
