Leki is a German brand created in 1948 by Karl Lenhart. The company originally specialised in wood processing but Karl Lenhart, who was a good skier, was eternally dissatisfied with the quality of the ski poles available at the time. In 1970, the first alpine ski poles were marketed under the Leki brand, followed in 1973 by cross-country ski poles.
