It’s not too late to learn to ski this season

It’s not too late to learn to ski this season, according to the team at Iglu Ski. Over the next few weeks or so to the end of April, there are plenty of opportunities to take up the sport. Iglu Ski have found the 5 best holidays for new skiers. 

 

On top of these package prices, Iglu Ski will help guests to book ski school and ski, boot and helmet hire. These resorts offer free lifts and/or low-cost lift passes for beginners to keep costs down whilst they learn.

Mid-April Chalet Special – Learn to Ski – only £675

Join other novices in the Chalet Chamois for a week from only £675. Ski School is just 150m away, and as food and drink is provided, there’s nothing to worry about apart from the gorgeous views and your new skills on the snow. Chalet hosts will prepare a cooked or continental breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals (6 days) with unlimited wine. End the day in the on-site sauna. Beginners’ Week in La Plagne – only £700

La Plagne is a good option for beginners with special learn-to-ski areas and 18 free lifts for novices.  A chalet offers a cosy base to return to, and this one has heated boot warmers on site, so your boots slip on easily the next day. Whilst here, Cool Ski is the pink brand to look out for on your piste map. It identifies the protected beginner zones, you’ll be able to pick up a tabard, and a lift pass for limited access to lifts is €35 per adult per day so you can pick and choose the days you feel ready to use it. New Beginners’ Area – Head up to Mottaret – £798 – based on Edinburgh flying

There’s a new beginners’ area in Méribel Mottaret, just above the main village of Méribel. It is a good option for beginners, and as it’s slightly higher than the main village, snow is generally better.   The  enclosed beginner area is beside the village and has a covered moving carpet, and you can graduate from here to an almost flat green along the valley to the main Méribel lifts. Lots to do off-slope – Have fun in La Rosière – £1,107 

Head to La Rosière in France for an idyllic, sunny place to learn to ski. With no through road, there are few cars, and if you learn at pace, you can take a lift up to and over into La Thuile in Italy. Here there is an extreme luge run; the chance to sleep overnight in an igloo and an ice rink. La Rosière has been called the ‘best kept secret of the French Alps’ as visitors rush to the bigger resorts. Only 200m to Ski School – Ski in VT – £1,224

Although it’s a big name resort, and very popular, there’s plenty of space for beginners, who’ll find this the perfect place to learn. There are four free magic carpets in the centre of the village, so your early days on the slopes are straightforward.
