Hannigbahn

Saastal Bergbahnen AG has agreed to implement the new Hannigbahn

In view of the importance of the project for the furtherdevelopment of the Saas-Fee/Saastal region and thecommitment of the patrons, the Board of Directors of Saastal Bergbahnen AG, headed by the majorityshareholder, has decided to launch the new Hannigbahn together with the amount collected through the crowdfunding campaign and to raise the missing outside capital.

The project approach with the establishment of an infrastructure company, which would have financed the new Hannigbahn and then rented it out, failed due to the unachievable conditions of the public financial aid.

The majority shareholder and the entire Board of Directors of Saastal Bergbahnen AG are impressed by the great commitment to maintaining the Hannigbahn. For this reason, given the new situation, they have agreed to build and operate the new railway.

In order to achieve the goal, the money collected through crowdfunding campaigns should flow into the financing of the new Hannigbahn as a public service contribution. The goal of building the new facility in summer 2023 and opening it again in winter 2023 is getting closer and closer.

The Saastal Bergbahnen are planning to invest around CHF 100 million over the next 10 years. The plans include the renewal of central facilities such as the Metro Alpin, the replacement of the Längfluh aerial tramway with the extension of the Spielbodenbahn to Längfluh, the expansion of technical snowmaking and the implementation of projects to generate renewable energy to cover around 80% of our own power requirements.
