Inspiring Mentelity games 2022

Year after year, the Mentelity Games bring young people together with a physical challenge in Saas-Grund.

The focus is on having fun together in the snow. The event was a great success again this year: over 300 sports enthusiasts came together in the Saas Valley to go skiing and snowboarding together.

After the Mentelity Games could not be held for two years due to corona, they were finally allowed to take place again this year. Through the event, young people and young adults should learn that despite their disabilities, there are no limits. True to the motto “Nothing is impossible”. From 5th to 8th April saw over 300 people on and around the slopes in Saas-Grund, including around 100 volunteers.

A varied program was offered. In addition to snow sports, the participants could also paraglide or drive a snowcat. On Thursday, the Swiss Paralympic Snowboard Team was there and answered questions from the interested young people. Seven-year-old participant Kiran describes the days as follows: “It was the best vacation of my life!” The positive atmosphere was inspiring.

12-hour race with a collective record

The 12-hour race at Kreuzboden-Hohsaas, which took place on Saturday, April 2nd, set a new collection record with a sum of CHF 178,500. 156 participants lead in 52 teams and have covered 8090.4 kilometres. All of the money collected will be used to run the Mentelity Games.

“The Mentelity Games are an important contribution to raising awareness for people with restricted mobility in snow sports. We are proud that we can hold the event here in the Saas Valley together with the Hohsaas mountain railways,” said Matthias Supersaxo, Director of Tourism at Saastal Tourismus AG, about the event.
