Socks are frequently the piece of kit that is given the least attention to detail in a snowboard gear set up. We think it shouldn’t be like that. We all spend a lot of time looking at the performance characteristics of snowboards, boots, jackets, gloves and trousers for example and we spend a lot of money on these items. At Kan, we know how important a sock is to your experience on a mountain, in the freestyle park or at your local dry slope/dome. From years of riding experience since the 1990s we have all worn various types of socks and we know a bad sock can ruin a ride on the hill and cause foot pain and discomfort and a good sock will mean comfort and enhanced performance on our snowboards. Considered design, precision manufacturing, the correct proportion and mix of yarns help achieve the benefits that riders want.
What Kan set out to achieve was to manufacture a premium quality unisex snowboard sock in the UK, at a mid-market price. We wanted a design and composition that removed the common foot complaints by snowboarders and which was produced from responsibly managed supply chains and sustainable manufacturing. We partnered with a manufacturer in 2018 and initial designs were agreed and tested early 2019 in the UK and Europe with a select team of riders. Tester feedback on the sock performance lead to the final camo design. The sock was launched in Winter 2019 and customer feedback and reviews have been excellent.
Kan is keen to supply socks through bricks and mortar retail stores in the UK.
